Location
Planning Area was located on Turkey's northwest, in Trakya Region, Tekirdağ province, Çorlu district is located in Muhittin (Zafer) neighborhood. Planning area constitutes axis of urban development determined on the southeastern wall of the urban patch. East and South east of the area is the Türkgücü Organized Industrial Zone and Tekirdağ-Çorlu Airport. The planning area is bordered on the western wall by the road of the village of Türkgücü (Hürriyet Caddesi) and on the eastern wall by the Kızılağaç stream.
Structure of Land
The planning area generally consists of flat and slightly sloping areas. In the northwest part of area the slope increases along the creek line. The lowest level in the planning area is 75 m. the highest elevation is 139 m. The elevation increases from southwest to northeast. Planning area has 2 main geological regions have emerged. Ergene Formation (Mie) and Thrace Formation (MiPlt) areas, suitable for settlement; Mie-e and Qal-e are the areas requiring detailed geotechnical surveys.
Design Principles
- Creating compatible and walkable neighborhood units in the planning area
- Ensure that the Daily neighborhood necessity is prepared in the neighborhood
- Designing social and technical infrastructure areas needed by population with in the planning area,
- Ensure the planning area got integrated with the city by creating urban equipment areas to serve to the city.
- Ensure balanced distribution of urban equipment areas within the planning area, by taking into consideration of the access distances,
- Create comfortable and safe pedestrian axes for pedestrians,
- Provide sufficient standards, comfort and safety on bicycle paths,
- Designing pedestrian and bicycle paths with high access to urban equipments
- Provide transportation and construction compatible with the topography,
- Keep the continuity of 35 m. width of the carriageway in planning area
- Protecting 30 m. width carriageway which is west boundary of the planning area,
- Provide diversity and accessibility in open and green spaces,
- Creating view points by designing public spaces in dominant points of the planning area.
